You’re Not Wasting Time by Waiting on God

Do you ever find yourself in a situation thinking, “Will this ever END?”

In the moment, we can become so focused on how we feel, we forget God is in control and He knows what He is doing.

But where is He? Why can’t we see Him?

The Israelites were thinking the same thing.

After 40 short days, they grew frustrated.

Their delayed expectations led to poor decisions. They rejected God and pursued whatever pleased them.

Little did they know, God was waiting on them to do what they SHOULD do so He could show up and show off in their lives.

Long days quickly turn to short years don’t they?

400 years.

That’s how long the Israelites waited for God’s deliverance. (And we think we’re waiting forever for a resolution.) lol

If you’ve ever felt frustrated by an uncertain season that lasts longer than you anticipated, I want you to know you’re not alone.

We can become so focused on our disappointments that we forget God is always in control.

Then, when we think the time has been ticking by too slowly, our uncertainty leads to anxiety and depression and even worse, unbelief.

That’s why it’s important to remember that you’re not wasting time by waiting on God. And more importantly, God doesn’t want us sitting on our hands, ruminating on our negative thoughts while He is preparing what’s to come.

Even though the Israelites couldn’t see it at the time, God wasn’t withholding His promises from them. He was preparing them for it.

What is God preparing you for?

Often times our suffering, confusion, and overwhelm can seem torturous.

We can think it’s a punishment for the things we have done wrong.

But, what if you are doing something right?

What if…

by allowing yourself to feel the feelings instead of rejecting them, God can show you what you need to see.

by understanding your thoughts instead of pushing them away, you can learn to change your beliefs and replace them with what God says is true about you.

by gaining knowledge for your next steps you are being prepared and strengthened for the purpose God has for you.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the situation, you can seek God with your whole heart and give him glory no matter what the circumstance.

In doing this, you can turn your grumbling into gratitude, because it has led you to the only one who can build your strength when you are weak.

Look back on what God has already done in your life.
There is evidence all around.

If you didn’t have these struggles would you have needed God?
Would you have prayed to Him? Would you have built your strength in Him?

God’s timeline may be different than yours, but His faithfulness doesn’t waver.

God’s plan and purpose is worth the wait.

It’s worth the work it takes to become more and more of who God needs you to be.

What is God wanting you to do while you’re waiting?

Remember, God is always working. Stay strong.

“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalm 31:24
